The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation is joining Israel’s Council for Higher Education to create a roughly $52 million program. Israel will provide the other half of the money.
Students accepted into the program will receive full tuition for their preparation courses and degrees, along with living stipends, computers, personal guidance and help finding jobs after graduation.
The program will focus on young Israelis from communities that are currently underrepresented in universities and tech, including ultra-Orthodox Jews, Arab Israelis, Ethiopian Israelis and young people from poorer areas.
Students will study science, engineering and other technology-related subjects at Israeli colleges and universities. The goal is to support them from before college all the way through getting their first jobs in Israel’s tech industry.
Dell’s foundation has already invested more than $10 billion worldwide in education, health and programs designed to create economic opportunity.
