Pro-Israel U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley has paperwork on file for Iowa’s 2028 Senate election, which could keep him in office until age 101 if he runs, wins and completes another six-year term.
The Republican is now 93 and would be 95 on Election Day in 2028. Although the story is circulating today, federal records show his candidacy paperwork was filed in November 2022, and the filing alone does not confirm that he has decided to run again.
Grassley has backed military aid for Israel, including funding for Iron Dome, opposed restrictions on American weapons sent to Israel and pushed for action against antisemitism targeting Jewish students. Another victory would give the longtime supporter of Israel his ninth Senate term.
