Christiane Amanpour has announced she will leave CNN in June 2027, ending a 43-year relationship with the network shortly after David Ellison’s Skydance took control of its parent company.
Her daily programs on CNN and PBS will end this year. She will continue a weekly CNN show through May before departing in June.
Amanpour has faced criticism over her coverage of Israel. In 2023, she apologized after describing the terrorist murder of Lucy Dee and her two daughters as a “shootout.” Rabbi Leo Dee rejected her apology.
Her departure comes during a major ownership change, but neither Amanpour nor CNN has confirmed that Ellison’s takeover caused her exit. CNN’s chief said they had discussed her departure for several months.
