The dinner comes after some Jewish conservatives criticized Vance over his comments on Israel and his relationship with Tucker Carlson. Vance has also been holding private meetings with Jewish figures, including radio host Sid Rosenberg, who said he left their meeting more optimistic about Vance’s views on Israel.

Vance has not formally announced a 2028 campaign, but his Jewish outreach is increasingly being viewed in that context as he works to strengthen support among Republican voters and donors.

The Shabbat dinner is one of his clearest moves yet to directly engage Jewish Republicans as speculation around 2028 continues to grow.
