Jewish billionaire John Paulson is donating $250 million to Hebrew University in Jerusalem, the biggest donation in the university’s history.
The money will help build a new engineering faculty, expand medical education and research, and improve treatment for trauma and post-traumatic stress.
The university will name its historic Mount Scopus campus after Paulson and his wife, Alina. His total donations to the university now reach $296 million.
Paulson told Calcalist he is directing more of his giving toward Jewish causes and Israel as antisemitism rises worldwide. He said supporting Israeli education is a way to stand with the country and strengthen its future.
