Additional uniformed officers, foot posts and dedicated house-of-worship patrols will be deployed, while the NYPD’s intelligence and counterterrorism units monitor threats in New York and abroad.

“There will be assets you see and others that you don’t,” Tisch said. Although authorities have identified no specific credible threat, she promised Jewish New Yorkers: “You have a partner in the NYPD now and throughout the year.”

Jews represent approximately 10 percent of New York City’s population but have been targeted in nearly 54 percent of its confirmed hate crimes this year.

Tisch said precinct commanders will work directly with rabbis and Jewish institutional leaders to create security plans for their communities.
