Jewish billionaire Jared Kushner has participated in negotiations over a deal that could let American investors buy into Russian gas pipelines and earn money from gas delivered to Germany, according to a report published Thursday.

The proposal involves Nord Stream, the pipelines connecting Russia and Germany beneath the Baltic Sea. Kushner discussed American investment with Putin adviser Kirill Dmitriev as part of broader efforts to connect business opportunities with an agreement to end the Ukraine war.

A deal could give American investors a share of future gas profits, but no price or personal investment by Kushner has been announced. Germany opposes reopening the pipelines, sanctions remain in place, and a White House official said there have been no recent Nord Stream discussions.
