Jewish billionaire Michael Dell’s investment firm, BDT & MSD Partners, has agreed to buy a majority stake in Sunrise Senior Living in a deal reportedly valuing the business at more than $1 billion.
Sunrise runs more than 230 senior living communities across America and Canada, serving over 22,000 residents. Its properties include luxury Manhattan residences where monthly prices start above $17,000, offering older residents upscale apartments, dining and care.
The company also has more than 50 new communities planned, with an estimated development cost of $7.5 billion, as America’s aging population drives demand for senior housing. The takeover is expected to close in 2027, subject to regulatory approval, with Sunrise’s current management staying in place.
