He is expected to arrive through Newark Airport in New Jersey instead of JFK, with the U.S. Secret Service joining federal, local and Israeli security around the visit. Israeli officials say the airport switch is about where his plane can be parked and protected, not politics.

At the UN, Netanyahu says he plans to “tell the truth” about Israel, defend Israeli soldiers and push back against criticism of the war.

The visit also comes with major drama from New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who says Netanyahu is not welcome in the city and has called him a war criminal, while admitting the city itself does not have the legal authority to arrest him.

Netanyahu is expected to keep the trip brief, address the UN, and return to Israel soon after.
