The September 11, 2001 attacks killed 2,977 people when al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four passenger planes, striking the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. A fourth plane crashed in Pennsylvania after passengers and crew fought back.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog also honored the victims, their families and the first responders who risked their lives to save others. He condemned attacks on innocent people of every nationality and reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to standing beside America.
