Much of the surge comes from Thrive Capital, the investment firm Kushner started in 2009 at just 24 years old with a $5 million fund. Today, Thrive manages about $65 billion, up from $23 billion at the end of 2024.
Some of Kushner’s biggest bets have been on SpaceX, AI coding company Cursor and OpenAI. Forbes says Thrive’s SpaceX investment is now worth about $10 billion, while its 7% stake in Cursor became worth about $4.2 billion following its acquisition.
Those investments helped Kushner’s personal fortune jump from $5.2 billion last year to $16.7 billion today. That makes him far richer than his brother Jared Kushner, who Forbes estimates is worth about $1 billion.
Kushner is now expanding beyond technology into sports. This summer, he and former Disney CEO Bob Iger agreed to buy the Los Angeles Lakers in a deal valuing the NBA team at $12.5 billion, though that transaction is still pending.
