The order includes ParaZero’s DefendAir system, which uses launchers and nets to physically capture drones in the air. The Israeli company will also send its team to train U.S. government operators on how to use the system. The government agency and the amount it is paying were not disclosed.

ParaZero CEO Ariel Alon said governments are increasingly looking for real ways to protect people, important locations and sensitive operations from drones. The company previously sold its anti-drone technology through a Dutch distributor in Europe, but this is its first U.S. federal government customer.

ParaZero was founded in Israel in 2013 and is based in Kfar Saba. The company trades on Nasdaq and is currently worth only around $20 million, making the U.S. government order an important step as it tries to grow its defense business internationally.

After the deal was announced, ParaZero shares jumped more than 31%, adding roughly $5 million to the company’s stock market value.
