Shapiro criticized reports claiming the United States is running low on missile interceptors used to defend against Iranian attacks, arguing that anyone inside the administration sharing such information with the media is harming America’s national security.
“You’re helping Iran,” Shapiro wrote, warning that even if the reports are inaccurate, publicly discussing America’s military capabilities weakens the country’s position and gives its enemies valuable information.
He urged President Trump to identify and fire those responsible, saying leaks about military readiness undermine both ongoing negotiations and America’s ability to deter Iran.
The comments come after several major news outlets reported that concerns over interceptor stockpiles played a role in Trump’s decision to delay further military action against Iran. Trump has pushed back on those reports, insisting the United States has the weapons it needs while also blaming the previous administration for reducing stockpiles.
The debate has reignited questions over national security leaks inside Washington, with Shapiro arguing that protecting sensitive military information is essential as tensions with Iran remain high.
