Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar announced the humanitarian shipment during a meeting in Jerusalem with Congolese Foreign Minister Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner. The visit also included the signing of two agreements aimed at expanding diplomatic cooperation between the two countries.
“Israel stands with its friends in good times but also in the bad,” Sa’ar said, emphasizing Israel’s commitment to supporting allies during times of crisis.
Kayikwamba Wagner thanked Israel for its assistance, calling the medical shipment a significant contribution to Congo’s fight against Ebola. She also expressed her country’s desire to strengthen cooperation with Israel in healthcare, agriculture, education, technology, investment and innovation.
During the meeting, Sa’ar also thanked Congo for its support of Israel on the international stage, including its position regarding cases against Israel at the International Criminal Court.
The aid shipment highlights Israel’s ongoing humanitarian efforts around the world, with emergency assistance continuing to reach countries facing natural disasters, wars and major health emergencies.
