The new defense network, known as the “Achilles Shield,” will rely on Israeli-made systems, including the Barak MX and SPYDER, both developed to intercept a wide range of aerial threats. The project is expected to create one of Europe’s most advanced air defense networks.

The agreement comes just months after Greece signed another $750 million contract with Israeli defense company Elbit Systems for advanced rocket launchers, highlighting the rapidly growing military partnership between the two allies.

Israel and Greece have significantly expanded their defense cooperation in recent years through joint military exercises, intelligence sharing, and major defense projects, strengthening their strategic alliance in the Eastern Mediterranean.
