With the latest deal, Ofer now has nearly 170 new ships worth more than $17 billion on order, making his company one of the biggest shipowners investing in the future of global trade.

The new vessels are being built at several shipyards in China and are expected to strengthen Eastern Pacific’s position in both the container shipping and vehicle transportation markets.

Idan Ofer is one of Israel’s richest businessmen, with investments spanning shipping, energy, chemicals and global industry. Through Eastern Pacific Shipping, he has built one of the world’s largest privately owned shipping companies, operating hundreds of vessels across international trade routes.
