According to Bloomberg, Appaloosa Management delivered a 32% return in the first half of the year, with nearly all of those gains coming during the second quarter as demand for AI technology continued to surge.

Tepper’s biggest winning investments included AI memory chip makers such as Micron, Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, Kioxia and Sandisk. These companies have benefited from the rapid expansion of AI data centers and growing demand for advanced memory chips used to power artificial intelligence.

Despite the strong performance, Appaloosa reportedly kept about 40% of its assets in cash throughout the year, making the returns even more impressive while maintaining a cautious investment strategy.

Appaloosa Management oversees roughly $23 billion, with about 90% of the fund’s capital belonging to Tepper and other insiders. The hedge fund also returned nearly 26% in 2025 and has posted double-digit gains every year since at least 2021.

The results further strengthen Tepper’s reputation as one of the world’s most successful hedge fund managers, with AI infrastructure and semiconductor investments continuing to drive significant profits for his firm.
