Jewish billionaire Stephen Schwarzman’s Blackstone has built a $200 billion business around data centers, the buildings filled with powerful computers that run AI and online services.

According to Bloomberg, its data-center investments grew from $55 billion in June 2024 to $200 billion by July 2026. That total includes debt and projects still being built.

Blackstone bought data-center company QTS for roughly $10 billion in 2021. It later expanded through AirTrunk in Asia and the Pacific.

Now the company is investing in the electricity, cooling equipment and computer chips these facilities need. President Jon Gray is leading the push, betting that growing AI use will create demand for more computing space and power.
